MPC ASL INTERPRETERS

Mesa Place Church is an internship site for El Paso Community College Sign Language Interpreting Training Program.

OUR INTERPRETERS

Carlos Pina came to Mesa Place Church in the middle of the pandemic with hopes that the Deaf community would have access to God when time in need.

Carlos is an American Sign Language Interpreter and has done so for nearly a decade.  He is a community interpreter,
which means he attends different places and various settings serving Deaf people and facilitating communication.

Being an interpreter hits close to home for Carlos who has a nephew who is Deaf and uses ASL as a modality of communication.

TEAM WORK

Soon after Carlos attended MPC, another interpreter Patricia Garcia joined him to start interpreting Sunday Worship together.  Patricia is an interpreter with nearly five years of experience.

The pair take turns interpreting on Sunday and interpret everything from Worship, videos and the sermon.

Carlos and Patricia are both mentors for EPCC's Sign Language Interpreting Training Program.

REACHING THE DEAF COMMUNITY

Our hope is for MPC to provide access to our Deaf Community.  MPC is focused on providing an inclusive setting for anyone seeking the word of God and in need of an interpreter.

MPC is starting to host various events specifically tailored for the Deaf Community. Head to our Events and Outreaches page to see the next event.
